Hi, my name is Kamila and I am the CMO at ChallengeRocket. 2018 may be a thing of the past but I am still amazed by how much more has happened compared to the previous year . One year ago our team probably already knew that the coming year would bring even more of everything: challenges, work, changes, and so on. Once again, real life proved to exceed the wildest of expectations. Now I want to share with you a few things we’ve learnt (sometimes in a hard way!) in 2018.
Hackathon recruitment strategies are the new emerging trend in HR world. To successfully hire a programmer today is not an easy feat. In a candidate driven market, employers need to rethink their approach to sourcing new talents. But are software developers the only group you can hire with hackathons?
Engagement of younger generation if cultural events has decreased and HackArt challenge was organized to fight that trend. Utilizing the form of a hackathon, it encouraged 93 participants to create solutions that aim to help promote museums, theaters, or philharmonics among this demographic. The contest was organized by ChallengeRocket.com platform in collaboration with Syrena Theatre, Museum of Warsaw, Zachęta - National Gallery of Art, and Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra.
Currently, more than ever before, the recruiters face the challenges posed by a major shit in the market. The unemployment rates are low, and candidate awareness is increasing, which means the job market is being dictated by candidates, not by employers. The need to revamp recruitment techniques is now at an all-time high. What can be done to successfully hire developers and how do recruitment platforms come into this equation?
Businesses in need of developers are currently facing a difficult reality of candidate-driven job market. Software developers are a demographics difficult to penetrate and find the talents to hire. According to StackOverflow , 22% of them don’t have a LinkedIn account, which in countries like Poland means as many as 55 000 of potential candidates impossible to reach the conventional way. How to combat these obstacles and recruit programmers best fitting your company? Hiring with code challenges appears to be the hack to solve this issue.
Employee retention is just as important as recruiting new tech talents, especially in a candidate-driven market. Providing your current and new workers with opportunities for self-development is crucial in today’s world. How can competitive programming help boost productivity in your company?
Best possible customer experience is the primary goal in any service-oriented area, and with hotels, the comfort factor is arguably one of the most important criteria by which guests select their place to say. Soft beds, immaculate rooms, and eye-catching decor have long been the obvious standard. Any signs of stagnation must always be combated, which is why AccorHotels decided to hold AccorHotels Warsaw Hackathon on ChallengeRocket.com platform to bring innovation to one of the more neglected areas in hotel guest experience, which are the bathrooms.
Sourcing innovation for your company to grow is a crucial process. It’s irrelevant whether your business is dealing with consulting, banking, or computer hardware, there is always room for improvement, and new areas to explore. Having an R&D or innovation department might not be a viable solution for every company, but that doesn’t mean there’s no way for those to bring new ideas to the table. Innovation challenge is the answer.
