Our first Sustainability Report!
Do you want to know how do we care for our employees, environment, and society? Read our Sustainability Report, created together with DB Schenker in Poland, which has published similar material for the fifth time already. We decided to join forces and contribute to the latest publication.
Sustainability reporting is a process of gathering and publishing data on non-financial aspects of a company's performance. Those include environmental, social, employee, and ethical matters. It is usually a domain of the most mature companies that have established not only financial goals but also those connected with society or ecology.
The report entitled "For people, for the planet" covers the activities of DB Schenker in Poland and the DB Schenker Technology Center Warsaw between 2017 and 2018. For us, it is a record of the company's history from its establishment through the period of dynamic growth. In the content of the report, we prove that although we are still a very young organization, we approach the subject of social responsibility management very maturely. The publication presents social, economic, and environmental data in a transparent way. Dozens of people from both companies were involved in its creation.
The choice of topics presented in the publication is not accidental. They resulted from the research of stakeholders of DB Schenker companies in Poland - customers, suppliers, and employees. For DB Schenker Technology Center, the challenges associated with the recruitment and shortage of IT specialists on the market are of high significance. In the content of the report, we describe our activities aimed at attracting, retaining, and developing the most suitable candidates. Another essential topic for us is information security. The IT Security Competence Center presented shortly in publication, implements, and ensures compliance with security standards at DB Schenker around the world. Obviously, the report includes examples of our charitable activities aimed at environmental protection or helping those in need, as well. We also stressed out the ethical principles existing in the company and our approach to compliance issues.
DB Schenker's Sustainability Report "For people, for planet" has been created according to the latest version of the international non-financial reporting guidelines Global Reporting Initiative Standards (GRI). For the environment's benefit, the more than 120-page publication is available online only. Both reports were subject to external, independent verification by Deloitte Advisory, which confirmed the reliability of the presented data.
