Challenge outline

CruzHacks brings together a diverse and inclusive group of students and professionals to develop innovative solutions to solve real world challenges. Last year we brought together 700 students from over 25 universities. Our goals to support creativity in technology and promote the development of technological solutions in social good are at the forefront of our efforts every year.

Event description

Entering its 5th year of operation, CruzHacks (previously HackUCSC) is an entirely student-run, non-profit collegiate hackathon, and one of the largest to be organized in California. CruzHacks offers the ideal environment for high school and college students to explore their talents and visions for social change through an immersive weekend of technology development. Our goal as an organization is to provide the optimal setting for diverse students to work towards actualizing the ideas they are most passionate about. CruzHacks aims to promote the development of technological solutions to societal issues at both local and global levels. Applications are open on our website until January 2, 2018 and are individualized for: Hackers, Mentors, Judges, and Volunteers.

CruzHacks has three phases:

CONCEPT: Put your thinking cap on and brainstorm a unique, innovative, and progressive idea that delivers a positive effect on your community.

COLLABORATE: Team up with students from 25+ universities, and 50+ mentors as you power through the weekend!

CREATE: Try out a new API, team up with your fellow students, and build something amazing at CruzHacks!
