By participating in the EMEA Coders League Hackathon, entrants agree to be bound by, and are deemed to have read and understood these terms and conditions. The following are the terms upon which you may participate in the Hackathon hosted by ChallengeRocket.com.
1. Entry conditions of the hackathons
a) Entry is undertaken by individuals only and no individual may enter the Hackathon in their capacity as a member or director of an incorporated or unincorporated business. All entrants must be aged 18 or over (if you have not reached the age of majority at the time of entry we require you to provide written permission from your parents).
b) To take part in the Hackathon, you must register via the hackathon’s page.
2. Intelectual property and copyright
a) All submissions remain the intellectual property of the individuals or organizations that developed them.
b) By submitting an Entry or accepting any prize, you represent and warrant the following: you will not submit content that is copyrighted, protected by trade secret or otherwise subject to third party intellectual property rights or other proprietary rights, including privacy and publicity rights, unless you are the owner of such rights or have permission from their rightful owner to post the content; and the content submitted by you does not contain any viruses, Trojan horses, worms or other disabling devices or harmful code.
c) Participant represents and warrants that he or she is the sole author and copyright owner of the submitted project, and that the Submission is an original work of the Participant, or if the Submission is a work based on an existing application, that the Participant has acquired sufficient rights to use and to authorize others; and that the Submission does not infringe upon any copyright or upon any other third party rights of which the Participant is aware, and that the Submission is free of malware.
d) Participant provides to the Organizers his permission to use his image in the photo and video materials for promotional purposes for an indefinite period of time, without restriction and without compensation. Participant grants the ChallengeRocket.com his consent to the perpetual use of any material, having been used in the Projects, that were created during the Hackathon, for internal purposes and promotion.
3. Judging criteria
a) Winners will be judged based on the following criteria:
- creativity, originality, and “wow” factor of the idea,
- design aesthetics and usability,
- adherence to contest topic (does your solution address a problem) social impact,
- market readiness level (is it free of obvious bugs) business potential.
b) The Contest winners will be selected by a panel of judges or by other parties using selection procedure and criteria that will be communicated to the participants in the opening presentation for the event. The judges decision shall be final and irrevocable.
4. Awards
a) Contest prizes are non-transferable by the winner. If you accept a prize, you will be solely responsible for all applicable taxes related to accepting such prize.
5. Personal data
a) By entering the Hackathon, entrants agree to ChallengeRocket.com processing their personal data provided when entrants register for their place on the Hackathon, for the purposes of running the Hackathon, advertising/marketing and/or advertising/marketing future Hackathon opportunities to you and in the event that they are members of the winning team, entrants agree to ChallengeRocket.com processing their personal information for the purposes of distributing prize money.
6. General conditions
a) Hackathon organizers have the right at their sole discretion to determine whether an entrant is eligible for the Contest. Organizers may disqualify, at organizers’ sole discretion, entries that: are in violation of third party rights or law or regulation, use inappropriate or explicit language or images, or display content that Organizers or Sponsors otherwise finds objectionable.
b) ChallengeRocket.com reserves the right to cancel or temporarily suspend all or any of the Hackathons with no liability to any entrants or third parties.
c) ChallengeRocket.com reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions of the Hackathon prior to the events happening and any new terms and conditions shall be effective once uploaded to official contest website.
d) Attendees violating these rules may be asked to leave the event at the sole discretion of the Organizers.
