The challenge

💡 Come up with the best concept or prototype of an application using Camara API.

🎤 Present your idea at the Orange Hackathon final.

What is Camara?

Camara is a new standard that allows application developers to leverage the capabilities of telecommunication networks in a unified way across different operators worldwide.

Our vision

Imagine having direct access to telecom network capabilities—something that was previously only available to operators. With CAMARA API, developers can now enhance app performance, improve security, and unlock new possibilities, all without complex integrations. From real-time fraud detection to optimizing network quality for critical applications.

What kind of capabilities are we talking about?

Below are selected examples—there’s more beyond these.

📌 Quality on Demand API

Enables applications to automatically ensure high-quality network performance when they need higher bandwidth or lower latency.

📌 Location API

Works where GPS fails – ensuring seamless location tracking indoors, eliminating dead zones inside buildings.

📌 SimSwap API

Enhances security by providing real-time SIM change data directly from telecom operators, improving authentication and fraud prevention.

This vision is being brought to life by Orange and other industry leaders within the Linux Foundation’s Camara project.

Why Camara?

✅ Access advanced mobile network functions

✅ One API standard designed to work across all telecom operators

✅ No technical complexity – simple REST interface

✅ Single integration, global possibilities

✅ Supported by industry leaders – ensuring continuous growth and innovation

Camara is backed by Orange and other leading telecom operators, making it a game-changing opportunity for developers.
