A convenient way for Zibagwe community to accesses clean, safe drinking water easily and faster and report faulty or contaminated boreholes in the area as soon as they are noticed.
Many times these women walk long distances only to find that the boreholes they went to are not working which means they will have to walk again and again until they locate a working borehole . This project is aimed at helping these women access safe drinking water quicker without inconveniences and report faults and contamination faster for rapid response from the local authority through the use of a mobile application.
It take time for local authorities to be notified of a faulty/contaminated borehole such that at times it will take longer for it to be fixed.Combined with poor hygienic practices, these patterns compromise health and well being of people especially among women who are the major contributors, collectors, users, managers and guardians of water .My Chibhorani is a mobile application made for Chirumanzu, Zibagwe district a rural community in Zimbabwe . This app will be used to identify nearest working borehole thus reducing the amount of time spent in fetching water for women. This app will also help the community to report faulty boreholes faster to the local authority so that they can be urgently fixed. It will also help the community to report contamination (with for example, fecal matter) urgently to avoid water borne diseases like Cholera, Typhoid, and Dysentery. The local authority will also have an administration page where they will monitor and update the status of the boreholes.
